I am in a unilateral divorce procedure with my husband, so I would like to ask if when the court pronounces my son to stay with me and my husband has to support our child while he is at university in Vietnam? He's 20 now.

    • Pursuant to Article 110 of the Law on Marriage and Family 2014 stipulates as follows:

Parents who do not live with their children or live with their children but violate the support obligation have the obligation to support minor children and adult children who have no working capacity and no property to support themselves.

Thus, one of the conditions for receiving support is the age. Currently, your child is 20 years old, which is not the case in Vietnam. Furthermore, university education is not compulsory. Therefore, in principle, no support will be granted in this case.

      Best regards!
